How to disorder a JW (family) chat
by Gorbatchov inwe all know the moment that a nice family chat is moving to the propaganda game.. sister in law saying that jw.org is the highest ranked website, cousing saying that the new hq is energy neutral, aunt stating that jw have the best education.... what can we say on these moments?.
that br splane just likes these new light ideas?.
that a jw.org video stated that jw use the name jehovah because people recognize this name?.

Let's talk about Blood again....
by stuckinarut2 ini know we have all talked about this topic before, but for some new ones on the forum, or to refresh ourselves, i wanted to start this thread.. the society likes to go on about the sacredness of blood, and how it should not be transfused etc.. they liken it to a symbol of life itself.
something that should be respected and therefore not transfused.. but, what is more important: real life, or a symbol of life?.
an illustration came to mind.. if we give a bunch of flowers to a loved one as a symbol of our love for them, are those flowers more important than the love itself?

it was the blood issue that got me out of the cult. back in the day--the society "suggested" we each make our minds over about this.
well--in 1971 my-then wife--a born in--was preggy with our first. i thought long and hard about the blood transusion issue should it turn out that way. i realised i could never risk my child--or my wife's life--even if god commanded it it was then i faced the fact i did not believe in god anyway--and therefore had no business being a witness..
i remember the day i quit. i was supposed to do the sunday public talk that afternoon. a phone call--and a visit to our congregation overseer--a former branch servant i had a lot of time for---i explained my feelings to him--and he suggested i back right out for a while--and think it all over. he did my talk that afternoon.

Sounds like a lot of misfits end up in Bethel (excluding you new boy).
This would all make a great sitcom.
the whole jw cult is one great big sitcom. if a film were made about it--not that many joe publics would watch it--no one would believe it. total farce.

My return to the WT...a terrible mistake
by JustHuman14 ini haven't posted for quite a bit, decided to share my thoughts on this one, so it is a reference topic for anyone who decides to return back to the org, knowing all about the tatt.
being way for quite long for almost 15 years and all wt's activities, i have missed quite a lot including the "new light" latest updates, i found it quite hard to follow up what was going on to the meetings.
new songs, wt broadcast, videos, internet (so wt now is in favor of the internet) cartoons, and everything seemed completely new and weird to me.. reason for going back it was the severe pressure from close family members to return back to the "truth".

why still have meetings in this paradise earth? its very existence will prove god--and the watchtower--were right all along. it will be just one big congregation.
no cars--therefore no need for roads. no colleges or universities. or hospitals. or police. or doctors. or nurses.
in a few generations mankind really will have reverted back to the stone age. this will make jehovah happy.

i read catch-22 many years ago--its a bit like Franz' book crisis------you have to get t the first half out of the way....--then the second half begins to make sense. if that makes sense.
reading these Bethel stories--i cant believe how anyone could stay there for more than a few hours....
i only ever new one bethel boy--here in the UK. this was back in the 70's. apparently he ran the pioneer desk--? whatever that was--but quit and returned home--to the Isle of Wight--where i live. he is / was a well known character here.

I was on the receiving end of violence from my first wife. She was a born-in and had absolutely no boundaries at all once she became angry. Her whole family were that way inclined although she was by far the worst. Eventually, our neighbours who were also witnesses reported the matter to the elders having heasrd her screaming. They came to visit just as I was sporting some deep facial scratches. They sat me down and read me Scriptures about how I must keep her in subjection. Oh boy.
were we married to the same woman ?
my first wife( born in 3rd gen) used to provoke arguments with me--and go into a sulk for days if she didnt get her own way. this usually ended with her attacking me--such as a full punch on my nose while i was asleep....also a thrust with a long kitchen knife --which i sidestepped and it went through the door behind me.
this usually resulted in a full on scrap--ending in violent sex--which i realised years later was what she wanted anyway.
